The Players

    • Goalkeeper

    • Date Of Birth: 3rd February 1990
Yet another local player added to the fold, keeper Dave first played for the Robins in 2008 (through to 2010) when he left the Shrewsbury Town set up he'd grown up playing in, aged just 18. Between leaving and re-signing under new manager Chris Hughes, the well known local keeper was able to enjoy representing his country in his age group as well as stints at other local sides including Welshpool Town and Guilsfield FC. But it was during his 3 years at Cymru Alliance side Caersws that Dave really cemented his reputation as a keep with real ability.
    • Defender

    • Date Of Birth: 26th January 1993
Wells is a former Shrewsbury Town trainee, having worked his way through the academy from the age of 11 through to being offered a youth contract at 16. A spell of injuries meant that despite a number of appearances for the reserves, Ashley had to miss out on a professional contract. Since then he has had spells with Newtown, Ellesmere, Market Drayton and Church Stretton before leaving a successful last season with Shawbury United to join us for a second time under new manager, Chris Hughes.

    • Nationality: Welsh
    • Date Of Birth: 10th November 1989
Signing for the Robins this close season will only add to Stefan's extensive experience in the WPL. The small but rapid left back caught the eye of Chris Hughes during his most recent season at fellow WPL club Bala Town, where he had cemented himself as a starting 11 player over his 3 years playing there (2011-14). Other experience in the WPL also includes a stint at Aberystwyth Town during the 2010/11 campaign. Previous to this, Edwards enjoyed playing football at both Cefn Druids and Welshpool Town. Following strong displays during this preseason, Stef will likely be a regular presence in the starting 11, resulting in him pushing well on towards his 150th appearance in the WPL.
    • Midfielder

    • Date Of Birth: 23rd July 1994
Owen joins the Robins after winning the Cymru Alliance League with Cefn Druids last season. He originally spent 10 years working through the ranks at Wrexham FC before leaving to join the Druids in July 2013, after a brief loan spell at the club in January of the same year. Matty put pen to paper in pre-season of the 2014/15 campaign, after a string of strong performances that impressed new management.

When the club went into liquidation just 5 years later, the 17 year old signed for local side Shrewsbury Town. When he was released at 18, Newtown swiftly signed the Llanfair lad and have benefitted from his height and defensive ability ever since. Walsall born Matty was signed during the 2012/13 season. Since then he has cemented his place in the starting 11 through consistent performances demonstrating speed, skill and goal scoring ability. Such abilities were noticed and developed as a youngster at Walsall FC until he was forced to give up playing due to a medical condition aged just 13. Upon returning to football at the age of 20, Matty enjoyed a short spell at Dudley Sports, scoring 20 goals in 26 appearances before catching the eye of then manager Bernie McNally in January 2012.

Another local lad, Luke started out his career in the Mid Wales League at Presteigne St. Andrews. He joined the Robins in the 2011/12 season, making this campaign Boundy's 4th year at Latham Park. Often fondly referred to as the 'utility' of the team, there isn't a position Luke can't turn his hand to and perform in. Being a regular in the clubs top goal scorers and having been voted both managers and players player of the year, pays tribute to Luke's presence both on and off the pitch. Luke will hope to achieve his 100th WPL appearance during this upcoming season.
